When You Need Centering

When you feel you need centering to focus and orient where you are going in your life, why not consider a Morning Prayer focus on God in your life?

When I need to calm and centre my thoughts, I turn to Morning Prayer:

MY MORNING PRAYER

Good morning Heavenly Father,

You are the source of all goodness and love throughout  Your creation, Your eternity, and thereby in each and every day of our lives.  Father, I want to be a sincere and loving follower of Your Son, Jesus, and I want to walk with You – today, and each remaining day in my life. As Jesus taught us, I now pray:

Father in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, here on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us, today, our daily bread, and forgive our sins, as we forgive those who have sinned against us.  Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen

HYMN: GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not.
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Great is Thy faithfulness.
Great is Thy faithfulness.
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest;
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above;
Join with all nature in manifold witness,
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Great is Thy faithfulness.
Great is Thy faithfulness.
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide.
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine with 10, 000 beside.

Great is Thy faithfulness.
Great is Thy faithfulness.
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.

Great is Thy faithfulness…
Great is Thy faithfulness…
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.

Father, Your only Son died to save us through redemption from sin that separates us from You: Please help me, I pray, to worship You with praise, thanksgiving, deep mindfulness, and sincere contrition, throughout this day.

Lord Jesus, You are with us each day: Risen Lord, we worship and praise You for Your love in the midst of our fears and failings.

Heavenly Father, You renew the face of the earth each day.  Thank you for your daily love and the daily beauty in this world.  Open our eyes to also recognize Your presence around us, in those we meet, and within ourselves.

Lord Jesus Christ, you are our light and our life: thank you for your love, your forgiveness, and for our redemption.  Jesus, You told us that the kingdom of God is at hand. Heavanly Father, I now pray to willingly be part of Your plan for me and for others in our lives today.  I also pray for Jesus to save me when I falter in my faith.

Help me, Lord Jesus, to worship only God the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit with all my love and by loving steadfastly all others that I may meet each day.  I pray, Lord, that you will help me to do this today and every day.

Lord you are compassion and mercy; while I have life, let me always sing and be thankful to God, our Father, for Your compassion, mercy and love.

Hymn:  OUR GOD REIGNS

How lovely on the mountains
are the feet of him,
Who bring good news, good news:
Announcing peace,
Proclaiming news of happiness.
Saying to Zion, Your God reigns!

Your God reigns! Your God reigns!
Your God reigns! Your God reigns!

He had no stately form, He had no majesty
That we should be drawn to Him.
He was despised and we took no account of Him,
Yet now He reigns with the Most High.

Now He reigns! Now He reigns!
Now He reigns, with the most high!

It was our sin and guilt
That bruised and wounded Him.
It was our sin that brought Him down.
When we like sheep had gone astray
Our Shepherd came
And on His shoulders bore our shame.

On His shoulders. On His shoulders.
On His shoulders, He bore our shame.

Meek as a lamb that’s led out to the slaughterhouse,
Dumb as a sheep before its shearer,
His blood ran down upon the ground like pouring rain
That we might be born again.

That we might be….That we might be …
That we might be born again.

Out of the tomb, He came with grace and majesty:
He is alive, He is alive!
God loves us so: see here His hands, His feet, His side.
Yes, we know He is alive,!

He is alive! He is alive!
He is alive: ,,, Our God reigns!

Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is God’s first and great commandment for us.  The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself.

Psalm 121:

1  I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2  My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3  He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4  indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5  The Lord watches over you —
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm —
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

God of hope please fill us with all joy and peace, and love.  Believing through the power of the Holy Spirit, we pray. Amen.

God of peace please enable us to do Your will in every kind of goodness – working in us what pleases You, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

HYMN; HOW GREAT THOU ART

Oh Lord, my God, When I, in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

Be joyful and live in the Lord, all you lands and peoples. Lord Jesus, Help all of humanity to discern You and serve You with gladness and steadfastness.
Let me always proclaim and praise Your presence in the world through my love, concern, and helpful actions for others.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us today and for evermore. Amen.
