WISDOM AND THE WAY BACK
Our human knowledge is limited and limiting, and our love, too often, is self-serving. In my view, wisdom is daily applying knowledge under the good governance of abiding love: reverent love for God, honourable love for ourselves, compassionate love for others, and stewardly love for this unique garden world.
Perhaps it may seem that a way forward to a path involving faith and love is impossible, improbable, and impassable for you. Still, there always exists one way forward from the edge of any cliff: the way back is the way forward.
But this is not a retreat, it is a rethink. It is not the capitulation of reason; rather, it is a capitalization upon careful consideration and choice. It is the realization that faith is not a deal with defeat. It is merely choosing to return to a faith perspective as a way back from oppressive pessimism and hopelessness.
Faith is a purposeful journey back to a friendship, a family, a trusting walk with someone, an existential context where fear is not ever faced alone. It is simply our choosing to return to a known and perhaps even loved context. It offers a peace and happiness that once prevailed in our life.
“There is no going back!”, is the great lie. It is the lie we tell ourselves on the edge of pride, shame, and despair. It is the lie we allow ourselves to believe, without any evidence or proof. It is the lie that precludes finding love and support. And it is not what God’s love would want for us.
